TOO OLD TO BE A MOTHER

Do you think she is happy? Explain using her own ideas.
I think that she is happy, because she said that she felt more comfortable mentally and she felt more in peace and hall.

What does her daughter think?

She thinks that her mother is crazy and she was opposed to this treatment.

Do you think this mother made “morally right” choice?
The choice in this case is complicated, I have two points of view, first I think the fact to be a mom it’s wonderful, and “be a mom” is a right that every woman have. But at the same time, I think the woman is going to have a problem in the future, because this problem is going to affect the children, not when they are babies, but, when they are teenagers or adults, because the children aren’t going to have stable figure maternal, since their generations (those involve thoughts, believes, behaviours, etc) will have 60 years of difference.

Do you think she chose to have the babies thinking about herself or thinking about the babies?
I think she chose to have the babies thinking in herself, because she didn’t have precaution with her body and the most important, the babies’ health, and I consider that she made that decision, because probably she felt young.

Where did she have the procedure made?
She had the procedure in a clinic in South Africa who it helps to old women.

Why not in her own hometown?
In her hometown (USA), they refused to treatment her because her age.

Did she use her own eggs?
She was exposed to a fertilization treatment, and she used eggs donors, which they were frozen.

Do you think a woman her age should be allowed to have children?
A woman has right, but she shouldn’t, for health, since at this age, the woman and baby health is complicated and dangerous in the pregnancy, delivery, post delivery; and not only about physical health, but, psychological health too, specially by the child.

WHAT IF YOUR BABY IS GAY

Do you think the idea presented in the video is unethical? Explain. I think that it isn’t unethical idea in the point of view from a scientist, because I think that it is their job, I consider that they have to investigate the origin of everything, but at the same time I think it is unethical by medicine, because its job is to treat disease and disorders, and it isn’t qualified to treat any other topics such as sexual differences, since the world isn’t ready to have test to determinate if somebody is gay or not.

Do you agree with the position taken by the Christian families?

I agree with them, because I think that is a way that they can help their children; because I consider that any culture, that involves religion, customs, believes, etc, have a different way to support them.

Do you agree with the statement "to be gay is a gift from god"? Explain.

I TOTALLY disagree with the statement “to be gay is a gift from God” because I consider that to be gay is not a gene that you have in your ADN, I totally sure that it is a choice in you life, sometimes by many influences, in the majority of cases by media, other like family’s influence or just by the person’s choice.

SMALL GADGETS, BIG PROBLEMS

Do you think the information in the article is true, or it is just another typical American fear?
I think it’s true and I totally agree with the article, because nowadays young people have diseases on his hands like the “carpal tunnel syndrome” by little gadgets, that is very common on these days, and I don’t think that it is an American fear, because you can see this problem in the majority of countries.

What is RSI?
The real name is (repetitive strain injury) it is syndrome that is affected the hand, wrist, fingers and specially the thumb.
What causes RSI?
Digital Personal assistants (DPA) like cell phones, Sidekicks, iPods and inclusive write an e-mal, etc. Those things are the causes to create RSI.
What are the symptoms?
When gadgets like DPAs are abused (use several times a day for more than short intervals), they create chronic pain and injury, exists another symptoms like swelling, throbbing, and tendonitis on hands.

How can you prevent it?
It can prevent following these tips:
o Reduce the time you spend on you devices.
o Keep emails short and sweet.
o Instead of the keypad on your phone or PDA, try an external device, such as larger keyboard, to enter text.
o Take breaks at least every hour, especially if you feel physical discomfort.
o Practice good ergonomics: sit a chair with good back support, with your feet on the floor.

What devices are you attached to?
The cell hone, Xbox control, and keyboard’s computer are being attached by me to use more the last years.

Are you willing to give your devices up for the sake of your good health?
I’ll do it, but it’s complicated, because the majority of them and specially the computer (mouse and keyboard computer) and the cell phone, are tools that you use for necessity, but things like control’s console, I’m letting it.

What would you do if you were the director of Nokia, Apple, Sony, or Microsoft to prevent your costumers from suffering of RSI?
If I were director of some of those companies, I would support functions that people don’t use, for example, in some cell phones there are actions that you can active with your voice, and I would create cell phones without “keyboard”, like this, only you can control it with your voice.

If I were director of Microsoft, I would eliminate the keyboard, like this you can write your text with the “optic pencil”

What do you think companies are going to do against RSI?
I haven’t heard anything about accompanies do something against about RSI, but I think companies aren’t going to do things against this syndrome, because their products it’s going to be affected, for that reason I consider that they prefer sell their products, that built something healthy by the consumer.

MIND-MAP LANGUAGE

Do you think language should be organized in any particular way?

I think that it should be reinforced with some rules, for example, when people are writing on “messenger” or in the cell phone, they don’t have rules, for that reason some people are confused whit some messages, but having some rules and some cods, it’s easer to understand in some cases “abbreviations”.

Do you consider people should communicate in only one way???

I don’t consider that people should communicate in only one way, because I think that it is the special of people, is interesting to know a new culture with different things, and another reason is that is important to different us from the others.
With many languages that we have, we are discovered more, and for that, the abilities of humans have improved. For that reason I think that is good that people communicate in different ways.

The article mentions that there are some examples that majority of people in cities lack abilities to communicate, but people who have communication abilities have the competition beat by a mile in a job. There are some key elements that help to be a good communicator, one of them, according to Kathy Maixner’s article, is to take a sincere interest in what others (audience) have to say, regardless, none of the audience finds the information boring or irrelevant.

Good communicators know the importance to take a time to ask the right questions and listen to the answers, since a lot of contact with all kind of information benefits the audience and themselves, this is never time wasted, since she said that when people have success, is when they made feel special the audience, it does mean when they remember important dates, names, events, and they take time to explain well.

The author mentioned too, about the gesture during in the presentation, according to studies in the article, each of common communicators has shown that there’s a contradiction between the words and actions. A solution by them is that people practice, making sure that their nonverbal communication affects their good verbal intentions.

To increment the communication effectiveness, people have to practice, since they are all works in progress.

REFLECTION ABOUT MY PRESENTATION

I’m going to do an observation point by point.

ACTITUD (Including Tone of voice, Language, intercation with the audience, etc.)

  • In general I didn’t interact with the audience, because I didn’t make questions and opinions.

  • I didn’t have so much confidence while I was speaking.

GESTURING DURING THE PRESENTATION

CAUSES OF ENDANGERMENT

OPINION

I consider that there are more factors than illegal market that are killing the animals. According to the article, some factors like disease and pollution that are unfortunately the principal elements in every habitat. Those factors have created natural changes in the environment and living been (plants, animals and humans); some changes are “the climate” by ozone layer, it affects the ecosystem to animals, another change is the animals behavior (most of them are changing their food and habitat) and another and the most big factor that are increasing the last years are the animal viruses, for example it has destroyed carnivore populations in East Africa.

I think that the planet has destroyed little by little by many factors, but, if we don’t care the planet, we won’t have future, I mean, our kids won’t have future, wherever you go you’re exposed to viruses, environmental changes, natural phenomena, and whatever phenomenon. According to a study about on global warming, the polar bears will disappear approximately in 30 years. How many time will extinct the others animals? Do you think that the next-next-next generation of people will know these beautiful animals? Maybe the only solution is to take care of what we have left.

QUESTIONS

What you think governments, people, and non governmental organizations could to stop species from disappearing?

I think that it is probably that it happened, but with extremely laws to protect them, because unfortunately some people don’t care about this issue, but the worst of this situation is that we won’t return the beautiful extinct dead animals.

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

  • Government would make extremely laws such as life sentences, or they can give 20 years to forced works to serve the animals against whoever wants to kill an animal by illegal market.

  • To reduce the cost of medicines, like this, the majority of people won’t use alternative medicines, especially Chinese medicine.

ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT (2nd Video)

What is the endangered species act?

The “endangered species act” is an organization that is called “National Wildlife Federation” It is a legacy to protect treasures (animals) in the all places, which is managed by 4 men (Darril Olson, Monley Fuller, David Carruth and Oscar Simpson). “They protect the habitat and habitat is protected by endangered species”. This organization started 70 years ago and it continues today.

What is it about?

This organization is about stops attacks to endangered species, they make a strong conservation to protect the all habitat, because the habitat that there are animals is at the same time habitat that people enjoy. It is all about healthy habitat and healthy ecosystems.

SIBERIAN TIGER (Persuasive Writing)

SIBERIAN TIGER
(Maria Paula and Erica's Exposition)

How do you prefer them, like a purse or like a beautiful living been in a wild? Maria Paula did this sensitive question in her exposition about the Siberian Tiger. Nowadays, many people don’t take conscience about the endangered animals, especially Siberian Tiger, who is one of the most beautiful and important animal into the wild. Approximately there are only about 20 Siberian tigers left in the wild in China, and around 100 live in Chinese zoos and animal parks. Can you imagine how many are in the world? A better way to control this situation is that government makes extremely laws to protect all of animals against Whoever wants to kill them by business.

The Siberian Tiger is important to the environment, because it cleans the forest to other animals, if we don’t have Siberian Tiger in the world; perhaps, wherever you’ll go, the ecosystem is going to be affected. Suppose that government makes extremely laws such as life sentences whoever connected to illegal animals market, hunt, alternative medicine with animals, etc, maybe, these kinds of laws help to take conscience about the reality that we’re living.

Some organizations like Species Survive Plan (SSP) and the convention on International trade in endangered species of wild, fauna and flora. (CITES) are trying to save the Siberian Tiger, but the majority of people in the world don’t know about these organizations, a good example is Colombia, people don’t have conscience about this issue, because there are few information in media. However, If the government actives the law, people would have conscience and responsibility, because now, it’s not about if you want to take care the animals, but, it’s about you have to take care them by the health of the planet.

Do you think if the government doesn’t make extremely laws, people will take care the animals, in this situation Siberian Tigers? I think that sometimes we need extremely laws to learn to take conscience about a reality that the majority of people ignore.
